According to the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, at present, many fields in the petroleum and chemical industry still lack effective and applicable advanced technologies for energy saving and emission reduction. The water quality and water quantity vary widely, the concentration is high, the biochemical property is poor, and the treatment is very difficult. Enterprises reflect that they hope there will be more environmental protection technology and products that can solve the actual problem emerge.

According to the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, in order to break through the bottleneck of environmental technology as soon as possible, China's petroleum and chemical industry will increase the research efforts on resource conservation and recycling of key technologies. Priority development of oil refining, ammonia, sulfuric acid, caustic soda, calcium carbide, pesticides, dyes, paints, inorganic salts and other production volumes, the number of enterprises, wide distribution and serious pollution of bulk chemical products clean production technology and waste recycling technology. Organic raw materials, pesticides, dyes, some fine chemicals and other industries emitting organic pollutants containing aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated alkanes, organic sulfur and phosphorus compounds and other difficult to degrade wastewater reduction technology.
